Does anyone have suggestions on what to do in Chiang Mai city ? Would also appreciate some restaurant suggestions (address and phone numbers too, please)
We'll also have a few hours in transit at Bangkok Suwarnadunnohowtospell airport so some tips on how to kill time there would be helpful as well.
Many thanks in advance.

Cheh ! Was expecting a long list of ideas from you !
weh!! got google wat! everything's available for your picking. the thing is, you might be a little bored by the scenery.
plus u staying at four seasons. enjoy its surroundings! 4 or 5 nights there very therapeutic.
but mae hong son is worth a trek out.
no shopping. not much. all at cut-throat prices. try to convince your wife NOT to buy. unless it's for the home. :)
I've Googled, scanned through Frommer's, Fodors, Rough Guide, TripAdvisor ... ...
Despite being Thailand's 2nd largest city, Chiang Mai seems to offer waaaayyy less shopping and dining options than BKK. It's just one temple after another.
i think u just about summed up chiang mai....oops. even my thai friends are not into chiang mai unless they're looking for a zen weekend...
Go climb Doi Suthup, actually don't have to do much climbing as you can take a car ride up... air is cool and crisp, at least in Dec when I was there..
can try bamboo rafting too... but don't know if the river has enuff water during June...
Nite market loh... grab some fantabulous mango rice, and ice-cold beer too - not necessary in that order
erm... can go elephant ride but not really recommended
oh yes, the cottage industries there! celadon, laquerware, paper brollies... can just sign up for a half-day tour for two of you. The tour agent will drive you there... quite interesting since we don't see much of these ard here...
Thanks, Anon.
Sorry to tell you this but I was stuck at that BKK airport for 8 hours (!) for a connecting flight (Kathmandu-Bangkok-Singapore) WITH a bad tummy and it was absolute hell. There was NOTHING to do, no comfortable seats to sit/lie on so I pretty much wanted to die.
Bring a lot of books, bring your ipod (fully charged), bring a board game or a Sudoku book. You'd need them.
Have fun ;)
hey, what's up with the archaic template?! (not blogpost-related comment).
